Dermatologist
Dr. Desmond Gan is an Australasian College of Dermatologists fellowship trained consultant dermatologist (FACD).
Dr. Gan graduated in 2006 with an undergraduate medical degree (MBBS HON) at the University of Melbourne and a Biomedical Science degree in the research of epidemiology of androgenetic alopecia. He completed his dermatology fellowship FACD training in 2013 via major hospitals in Melbourne and the National Skin Centre in Singapore. He won the president medal for Pharmacology and the International Scholarship for AAD during his training. He undertook further post-fellowship training in India, Belgium, France and South Korea in the area of pigmentary diseases and vitiligo.
Dr. Gan is currently a visiting consultant at the Skin Health Institute, the Alfred Hospital and the Monash Medical Centre. Dr. Gan founded Melbourne Eastside Dermatology, a private dermatology practice based in the Eastern suburbs of Melbourne in 2015. The practice expanded to a group dermatology practice providing services over 2 separate sites, and incorporated laser and cosmetic services. Dr. Gan has developed a subspecialty interest in laser therapy treatment in the darker skin type, especially those of Fitzpatrick Skin Type 3 and 4. Dr. Gan utilises a wide range of energy based devices in his practice, including the Candela PicoWay, VBeam Perfecta and Nordlys systems for treatment of pigmentary concern, vascular conditions, rejuvenation and scarring.
